Discussions at the Round Table of Bretonnia

I'm surprised that their hasn't been (or I haven't found) an Arena of Death. But I was wondering if anyone would be willing to participate in this.

Indulge me: what is an arena of death? Sound kinda gruesome and disfiguring, not to mention dishonourable.

Edit: As I've just noticed your Arena of Death is the base on which the first Arena of Honour is produced. Unless you want a different Arena, head over there and enlist.

Tournement on foot, nothing dishonorable about it.

And Phoenixking, there is a joust in the works.

Ah, Pervavita and I have discussed it and we are both interested in making one and... making it work... so brain storming ideas would be useful of you know what it is already. If you don't I am really hoping Pervavita can explain it well enough because i can't find the words to put it together right now

Although we want to work on putting one together for this site as it is extremely fun

hear are the rules we used in the AOD at the intersite campaighn.

1) No special characters.
2) Single wound mounts only.
3) Against Incantations/the Bands of Power, you get 1 dispel dice (2 if you’re a dwarf or have the Mark of Khorne). The Bands are the only permitted bound items.
4) Killing blow on a 4+ the target is slain, on 1-3 they are reduced to one wound'


5) These are banned:

Tress of Isolde
Sword of Fate
Van Horstmann's Speculum
The Daemon Sword
The Fellblade
The Bane Head
The Grudge Rune
The Talisman of Saphery
Kurbog's Curmudgeonly Klobbera
Virtue of Confidence
Annoyance of Netlings

6) These are changed:

"Gaze of the Gods - same points cost, before the battle roll a D6 - 1 = you get a 6+ ward, 2-3 = you get a 5+ ward, 4-6 = you get a 4+ ward. Such is the fickle nature of chaos.
Warpstone amulet - same points cost, but roll to see if you die BEFORE the fight instead of afterwards."

7) Equalisers (rezephua wording)

-Tomb Kings can cast their incantation "smiting" (+1 attack) twice.

-Skaven Warlords and Empire characters who do not take the Runefang may go up to 20pts over their magic item limit providing that they do not exceed 250pts in total.

-Von Carstein and Lahmian vampires get 35pts extra – they may not exceed their magic item limit

-Strigoi and Blood Dragon vampires get 25pts extra – they may not exceed their magic item limit

-Wood Elf Highborns get 20pts extra - they may not exceed their magic item limit

-Daemon characters get 40pts extra – they may not exceed their magic item limit

-Chaos characters can take the marks of Tzeentch and Slaanesh for free.

Cool No magic item point limit, all other limits apply (i.e one weapon, talisman etc)

9) 300pts limit.




now some of this wont apply as we are going to do this in a Bretonnian setting, so no demonds and such will be their. alos it won't be to the death, the rolls will still be to the kill, but instead of killing it will be a knock out or yeald. i am working on some changes to add also. like allowing Vof Confidence with some changes like 30pts and can only rerole to hit or wound, desided by the player when the charicter is made. by adding this it breaks it into 2 virtues in a way and also allows us to in a sence have 3 virtues that will be common insted of only one (Vo Ideal).
this is still being worked out. also i was thinking of allowing evil charicters descised as knights, they would get some extra bonusus but also be restricted in other ways, you know have to make a roll to see if they are discovered, and if so face exicution.. this is just a thought.

Yes considering the people here are majorly Bretonnians... we have to divide up the virtues and items a bit more so that way it isn't all the same and people will actually pick different things instead of everyone having the same character

I was thinking that we might need to see who gets the charge for Bretonnian AOD Pervavita, as certain weapons work better on the charge? I guess we can roll a dice and on a 1,2,3 one character gets the charge and on a 4,5,6 the other gets it... yeah.

I believe keeping the idea for having multiple characters in AOD that virtues should maybe cost 2ce as much if taken a second time so that way the characters can be totally different

only one charicter each so it's the prowse of 2 warriors. not teams. i don't like the team idea, it dosn't represent us well.
charge boulth charicters charge, Inisitive is desided on M+I+d6, even the guy who hits secound still is charging, after that their is no charge any more and combate go's like normal.
thats why i want to split Vof Confidence so it is practicle and usefull at the same time. otherwise eveary one who will be compedative will have Vof Ideal. a few might take Vof knightlly temper or Vof Impetuas knight(extra d6 for inish on charge) ,Vo joust, and vof Purity. but beond that i can't think of a virtue any one would take. so this gives us atleast more veriety. wepons shouldn't be to much trouble as their are enough that we shouldn't have a bunch of duplicuts.

Two Questions:
Will this arena be on foot, or mounted? and Can Imperial Characters take part?

Any race, and you can be on foot OR mounted but the mount must have 1 wound only.

Wouldn't giving both options put most characters at a significant disadvantage? (lower armor and in theory they would never get to go first if we're going with realism)

Not that it matters, I'll be fielding my Empire General on foot so long as that's a choice, now to get to work on tweaking Brenguard with the slight extra point allowance!

Well I've been killed by foot characters before... take the Dawn Armor... 1+ armor save lol

Point is you HAVE the OPTION to take a 1 wound mount aka warhorse if you wish and both characters count as charging no matter what so intiative order goes first but bonuses from weapons with charging count as being on the charge in the first round

It is purely your choice for a foot character as it is our choice to take one too... whatever diadvantages and advantages you give yourself is your choice.

You may have a single 300 point character with no limits to items but the character must be 300 or lower.

Mind you the 1 magic weapon, 1 magic armor etc still applies.

yes bolth charge. intiative order for all turns but the charging turn it is I+M+d6, this gives mounted charicters a slight advantage as they will get going fast, also the d6 part makes it less liklly for 2 to hit at same time on the charge.
as for the foot thing, i was thinking posiblly breaking it up and doing a 250pt on foot but i don't think so for now. we can do that latter on for now we will make it the players choice to be mounted or not for 300pts. latter we can do a foot and a mounted sepretlly.
not all races are allowed.... allies of Bretonnia deffinatlly allowed no questions asked. but Dark elfs and Chaos will have to use subtrafuge to participate. rats, o&g;, and demonds won't be able too as we are doing this in a Bretonnian court and we would never allow them within our walls knowinglly. Ogres, if you can find a darn good reason for one to come hear for a teurny same with lizerds....did i miss a race?
all battles will be to a yeald/knock out. if you want to kill your opponant PM the arena master that you want to do so eather secreatlly or obviouslly. i am thinking of adding poison for the DE and Chaos charicters(and any one else) to use that isn't obvious, but if cought you face a death sentence... you know a long drop with a sudden stop.

ok i have been thinking about this a lot. i think we can do this, but i can't do it all. i don't have the time for dice rolling and rule checks. jean i noticed in another post you like just rolling dice when bored, so can you do that for us? i can help contribute to story writing and rolling a few battles but no more. jean would you do the majority of the rolling? i know you type fast and are also long winded so you could also do the majority of the writing.

any thing i missed that just dosn't make sence.

1 charicter limit per person. 300pts, 1 wound mounts, same rules we used at the intersite for 1 vs 1 battles basiclly.
1 change Vof Confidence gets devided into 2 Virtues so we Bretonnians can have some veriaty.
Vof striking: 30pts rerole failed to hits
Vof presision: 30pts rerole failed to wounds

I can roll the dice for it ^^ I have dice... right beside me... and I am rolling them as I type this with a single hand *taaaalent xD * but yeah I'd be more then happy to roll the dice for the matches, of course here and there I'd like to join in the fun...
