Gastion,
Like Trelos, you're up against some very, very high standards of painting ability, so I'm comparing your entry against those others.
Some suggestions for improvement for your future model making, painting and competition entries:
Firstly, make sure that you remove all the moulding lines. I can see these down most of the underside of the lance. Cleaning up the miniature before any painting is essential for producing at least a table-top standard. Sometimes, after base coating / undercoating, you can detect the mould lines better and this is a good time to clean up any remaining vestiges of the casting process before starting on the proper painting of the miniature.
Secondly, your white lining and detailing is a bit shaky and ragged, and this unfortuantely is shown up quite clearly by the darker background colour.
Thirdly, the metallic and white areas look to be quite thickly painted and seem to lack any shading (maybe it's just an effect of whatever lighting you used, as I see that the flash didn't fire on the camera).
Finally, I'm stlightly puzzled by the fact that the paint finish on the horse and the knight's hair is glossy, while that of the rest of the knight and the horse barding is matt / flat. It must be the brown paint you used or perhaps the wash you used over the brown areas. Anyway, I think this rather spoils the overall appearnace of the miniature.
Apart from those points, I still think it's a good entry and so I've given it a 4.
Well done and good luck.
Sir Guy
The knights shield design is really nice as is his facial features.
I agree with Sir Guy's comments and think you have done an excellent job.
The music teacher's model.
I'm impressed by the two competition theme. I did the same.
This guy is great and I really like your Macis Tyrelle model as well. Let's see some more of your army in the forums!
