I haven't really thought about it, perhaps desert basing, but if I did that, where did the mud on the caprisons come from?! Plus I do like static grass...

It's quite easy really, a moderate drybrushing of scorched brown with a lighter one of bestial brown over it, also I think there's a drop or two of chestnut ink in places.

I've been trying to do that.
