Dwarfs are perhaps one of the hardest Warhammer armies to beat, especially in a pitched battle. With their high leadership, strong armor, and punishing ranged weapons, a strong Dwarf army can stop a Bretonnian player dead in his tracks. Any general who doesn’t at least have a certain measure of apprehension when going into a match against them is incredibly brave or incredibly foolish. So after many, many battles with Dwarfs, (they are perhaps my most frequent opponents) I have compiled a list of strategies on how to deal with each Dwarf unit. They might not always work, but these plans will certainly help get the upper hand on some peskier Dwarven foes. In this two part guide, I will provide some strategies that I have tried and tested in the crucible of battle. The first part will deal with Lords, Magic, Warriors, Thunderers, Iron Breakers, Hammerers, and Miners. The second will be about Dwarven siege machines, gyrocopters, longbeards, and quarrelers.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind that all Dwarf generals do think differently. Some will be more overconfident while others will be more cautious. There is no guarantee of what will happen in any game. Half of everything is luck, the other half is fate.

Tales of the Avenger

As the Dark Elves begin their fight with their High kindred, Coreaux struggles to survive in the wilds, pursued by an unseen foe. Meanwhile, Jacques attempts to free his former master from the pits of Nagashizzar, and Jean hurries back to the cursed city of Mousillon. And as Coreaux struggles to regain command over Mousillon, it becomes clear there is a betrayer in his force’s midst. But who is it, and why has he chosen this moment to strike?
Before I begin, however, I would just like to provide you with a brief foreword. VIII has taken a while, and is the longest so far. It is really the first chapter where I've introduced a good plot, so any feedback would be appreciated. It has been a hard rocky road to create this, but overall, I think VIII, at 34 pages and 16032 words, is the best so far. Hopefully, this will be a prelude of things to come!
I hope you enjoy reading Avenger VIII.

The Damsel's Tale
|
Written by Sir Guy des Bontemps

Thursday, 19 June 2008 |
The following comprises the first chapter of a collaborative writing experiment between Sir Guy des Bontemps (aka Geoff Buss) and Damsel Elise (aka Kit Buss), a writing partnership between father and daughter, both in true life and as alter egos on this website.
The intention of this collaboration is two-fold: firstly, for the two of us to write alternate chapters of the story, thereby working partially independent of each other; and secondly, but more importantly, to grow the story along roughly similar lines to those used in RPGs.
Perhaps the main differences between RPG and this endeavour are that we have a basic plot with an end objective and we have set ourselves some limitations; namely, we plan to conclude the story satisfactorily by the end of Chapter 10, and each chapter is limited to between approximately 2,500 and 3,000 words.
Finally, we both freely admit that we are practising completely free literary licence, enabling us to develop our own story with little regard to strict adherance or observance of any traditional or given histories or characters already written about in official or fan-based Bretonnian literature. We do this purely to avoid any restrictions to our creative writing. Nevertheless, we both hope that you - the reader - enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Well the title says it all..
Many new players think 20 is a marvelous size for Men at arms (M@A).
Probably because the Battalion box comes with 20 of them.
Here is the explaination why it is not a good unitsize.

Tales of Roiglan

hose that harness the power of the Lady can be divided in two: the strong right hand of her divine wrath, the proud and chivalrous knights, mostly male and raised from birth to knighthood and the left hand of guidance and her will, her female servants. Thus was the great divide decreed by her infinite wisdom and kept in order for hundreds of years: women hiding their inherent weaknesses to fight on the field of battle were rare and shunned for ages while there likewise never returned a male, born with the arcane fire, from the wide and perilous forests of Loren. The story of Josserand is unique in many ways which I’ll now narrate to you.

Just recently, our community crossed the boundary of 2000 members. I considered this to be a good reason to create some detailed census of the registered Knights and Ladies of the Round Table of Bretonnia, as well as visitors dropping by.
