Books, Movies and Music at the Round Table

Another new addition finally found it's way to the Round Table of Bretonnia! We are now able to recommend books, movies or music of interest to all Generals of Bretonnia!

At our Recommendations page you already find a small collection, mainly transfered from the old site "Earl Cadfael's". This collection will hopefully grow in the future - you can participate by discussing the recommended items directly, or submiting new books, music or movies which would be interesting to anyone else. To do so, just write a PM to an Admin with a review of the item you want to recommend.

The second feature of the Recommendations is that you can directly buy them from Amazon. By doing so, you support the web hosting of our site - so use the "direct buy" feature of our Recommendations as often as you like to. If you want to buy any other item from Amazon, just use the supplied Amazon search boxes, and we get a referral bonus from that too!

LOTT 01 - Errantry

Literature - The Tale of the Lord Of The Tournament

LOTT. A simple abbreviation. The name eventually used for “Lord of the Tournament” because it was such a hard name to type out in full. But even so, he has had a colourful history.

The life of LOTT started out when I one day decided to step into Earl Cadfael’s Bretonnian Court, and needed a way to identify myself. I picked the name out of the air, and it stuck. From that point, LOTT existed, and was uniquely me. My first attempt at Fantasy story writing was so bad that I dare not even produce it now. But Sir Thomas de Bastonne (I think) very kindly translated the Beginning and errantry quest of Lott into a viable story. It is still known as LOTT’s errantry quest.

The Stream

Queetch crept slowly along the stream, his dark fur was all-but invisible on this dark night but he still preferred to stay below the level of the bank where possible.  It had been a long journey from the Black Pit, deep in the Massif Orcal, he had travelled stealthily south through the mountains and past the patrols on the river Slow, then up the Morceaux, skirting the small settlement of Overford, before swimming across just east of Ælfinfort.  Now he neared his destination, the castle of Ælfinfort Keep, home to the hated Robert de Giselles.  Now, however, the chiefs of Clan Eshin had spoken and the lot had fallen to him to dispose of this enemy of the Horned One.  Tonight would be Sir Robert’s last

Literature - Various Stories
Written by Gueron
Monday, 24 April 2006

Here starts the Tale of Marie de Quenelles, an ancestor of Gueron.

It was winter, Gilles-Tide, 1493, and Marie is remembering her family history while awaiting word of her father.

For those that are not fully familiar with the calendar of the Warhammer World, there are 12 months; After-Witching, Year-Turn, Plough-Tide, Ladys-Month, Summer-Tide, Fore-Mystery, After-Mystery, Harvest-Tide, Brew-Month, Chill-Month, Gilles-Tide, and Fore-Witching. Of these months ten have 33 days, and two have 32 days.

There are six days that are not included in months; Witching Night (New Year, before After-Witching), Lily-Day (Spring Equinox, between Year-Turn and Plough-Tide), Peace-Tide (Summer Solstice, between Summer-Tide and Fore-Mystery), Day of Mystery (Between Fore-Mystery and After Mystery, Commemerates the First Appearance of the Lady of the Lake), Grail Day (Autumn Equinox, between Harvest-Tide and Brew-Month), and Kings Sleep (Winter Solstice, between Gilles-Tide and Fore-Witching).

The Current year is 1544. The Storm of Chaos took place in 1543-1544.

We, the Staff of The Round Table of Bretonnia want to ensure a long future for our dedicated Bretonnian Community, and we want to follow the tradition of our old home "Earl Cadfael's Bretonnian Army" and keep everything ad-free.

However, a webserver costs money. Right now we're on a shared server with many other accounts on it, and Etien de Rochefort and me paid for the first term. But we plan to grow much more in the future, and then our site will become slower and slower with more users. A move to a faster server will be necessary then, which will be more expensive.

To ensure our future hosting and running of the site, every one is now able to donate for The Round Table of Bretonnia via the PayPal-button below, or at the top right of the site, above the Search-Box.

Just donate any amount you want, any time you want if you're enjoying this community as much as we do. All money (less charges for the transfer by PayPal) will go directly into hosting this Community (and upgrading it in the future).

Defensive Stakes

Hobby - Modelling

How to make defensive stakes for your Bretonnian Bowmen.

There can be two reasons to add defensive stakes to your archers.

1- You have archer models from previous game editions and you need defensive stakes to play them.

2- You want to field archers using a frontage of 5 or 10 models and the stakes sold in the Bretonnian Archer box only cover 4 men , and two sets of them only cover 8 models.
