The Warhammer Fantasy Intersite Campaign

The News - Warhammer (general)

Thanks to the efforts of langmann, the Admin of Druchii.net, there will be a Warhammer Fantasy campaign this summer, just like the Storm of Chaos last year.

The website at http://www.wfbcampaign.net  is already online and waiting for registrations. To participate, all you need to do is register there.

Our Bretonnian faction, represented by the Round Table of Bretonnia, will definately play at the Light side at the campaign. But besides that, everything concerning Fluff and tactics is still open, and will be created by you, the players. Be sure to read anything concerning that at the campaign site.

We will also re-establish the Bretonnian War Council from last year in a new Board here at the site. If you are interested in organising the War Council during the summer campaign, report at the discussion below. Of course we need anyone participating in the games, forging tactics, and writing fluff!

Enter The War Council...

Tactics - Tactica
Written by Guillame de Reblochon

Introduction

Welcome to this the first in what (I hope) will be a series of short articles about the specific tactics for each of the Bretonnian troop types.

Before I begin my article proper I feel it’s worthwhile setting aside a few lines to give you a view of the author. I began wargaming in about 1987 when a role-playing buddy was given a copy of the shiny new Warhammer ( 3rd Ed) rulebook. He wanted to collect Dwarfs and I was rather taken with the Orcs & Goblins, later other friends joined in with Undead, Chaos, Elves, etc, and so began many years of happy gaming. By the late-90s my interest in Orcs & Goblins was beginning to wane. I tried using a few other armies but nothing really captured the imagination enough for me to collect my own new army. Then along came the Bretonnians in 96.

It took some time to get an army ready but it was worth the wait. In more recent years distractions such as LOTR and some historical gaming (Naps and WWII) have seen the army of Guillame de Reblochon take to the field slightly less. Most of my Bretonnian gaming experiences have been against Empire, Dwarfs, Undead, Beastmen and High Elves, but even if your regular opponent has a different army then I hope these ramblings will be of interest to you.

Couronnian Summer Cycle Tournament in Vlios

Events - Jousts
Written by Sir Christoph Tetreaux
Tuesday, 13 June 2006

For Introductions, I am Armond, servant and faithful squire to my master Sir Christoph Tetreaux. Earlier today, a letter from the city of Couronne was delivered to my master, Lord of the city known as Vlios in the Dukedom of Couronne. This letter bears the symbol of our King Louen Leoncouer, red and blue shield halves with a yellow lion rampart. The messenger, a squire dressed in the attire of the kings court was told specifically by the king he had to hand deliver this message to my lord. Upon summoning my lord to the squire, he broke the Kings seal, and read the message. Wide eyed, he looked upon me with excitement in his eyes and asked me to summon 13 messengers, and a handful of scribes to lay on paper what the kings orders were.

At that time, I did not understand why my master was summoning messengers and scribes, but I would come to find out in the next few minutes.

“The King has bestowed upon my castle the summer cycle jousting tournament. That is why I have summoned all of you.” He said. “This is a time honored tradition in Couronne, the King is quite a fan of Jousting tournaments, and by the Kings orders, and I have the privilege of hosting this summers event.” He said excitedly, knowing that many noble knights and fair maidens of Bretonnia will now enter my Lords land, and judge Him, his Hospitality and his Honor.

We then understood why the messengers and scribes were summoned.

He then spoke directly to the scribes:

Everyone knows elaborate patterns look good, whether they be on shields as part of the heraldry, or on caparisons, banners or elsewhere as decoration.

One of the most effective and popular patterns are chequers.

But many people find it difficult when first going about painting these awesome designs.

In this article, I will attempt to give a few tips and techniques to make it easier for beginners, and maybe add an inspiration or two for the more advanced…

With courtesy of the Admin of the fallen Chateau Montrefort, Etienne d'Arden, we now have the much shorter and more convenient domain www.bretonnia.org, additional to the already known www.roundtable-bretonnia.org.

Technically, it's just a redirect. Feel free to use it, out of convenience or old habit!
