Just a very minor update - the steed of my character is 75% done, just some details on armor are waiting for finishing touches. I will finish the mount by this weekend and will then continue with the character itself. The whole model will be finished before 31st of october. So far it looks good
I beg to remain your most humble and obedient servant,

Rafael de Bois et Guilbert

I will finish the model tonight - just some final brushstrokes here and there remain to be done. Will take pictures tomorrow if there is enough daylight

Nope. The competition ends on 31st of November, that date included:

I am most proud and happy to present my Lord level character - Count Rafael de Bois et Guilbert, leader of crusading Company of the White Rose:

This was a long work to complete that model. I took the Empire General plastic kit for the base (as I have always envisioned the Bretonnian high ranking nobles wear more exquisite plate armors), removed all Sigmarite and Empire symbols; added custom head; built him new shoulder guard and shield; greenstuffed him my own symbols (White Roses) some additional details (the leaves around the skull on his breastplate and all the fur trim and tassels on his armor and coat).

The sentences on his barding and shield are his mottoes:

1) Fortis fortuna adiuvat - translation: "Fortune favors the brave."(Virgil, Aeneid 10,284)

2) Ab obice saevior ibit - translation: "The resistance only makes him attack more ferociously."

3) Consilio et Animis - translation "By wisdom and courage"

Any comments, questions, criticism, etc. are most welcomed!
I beg to remain your most humble and obedient servant,

Rafael de Bois et Guilbert

The model is awesome!

but for my taste it's still too much empire-ish

Rafael-
This miniature is phenomenal! The conversion work is incredible, the painting exquisite, and the pose is so dramatic... The only thing that I think might help it to look more Bretonnian would be to give it more fleur-de-lis, other then that, this miniature is flawless.

Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated

Oh and there is one fleur-de-lys - on the base is an "ancient fallen Bretonnian warrior", his skull and shield bearing that symbol (although rusted and corroded) are half seen from the dust of the battlefield

And my character's symbol is the white rose so i decided to go for that motive mainly...

Excellent paint job. Do you have any tips on painting eyes? I'm proud to be fighting alongside such a well painted army in A4 (I'm ser Jehan le Jeune). What does the latin on the barding mean?

Hmm, I dot the eye with black first, covering all of the area I am going to paint as the eye. I then use small dots of either bleached bone or skull white (mixed with a small dot of chaos black) to form the whites on the eye. If necessary I use another small dot with chaos black to make the pupil of the eye stand out better. Never use pure white for eye, it will look unnatural. If You really want You can use some other colours on the central pupil area - dark blue for instance.

Oh, and by the way - my lord miniature is competing in this year´s anniversary painting competition. If You like what I have done, You may give a vote for me:

http://www.roundtable-bretonnia.org/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=viewcategory&catid=25&startpage=3&Itemid=103#category

I will try to start painting another 3 knights errant next, as I have found out that a small lance of 6 is too weak in larger battles. So I hope to have some new updates here soon!

Wow - more than 30K clicks to my blog?! Who the hell keeps coming back reading this?

Anyways - I am painting my next three Knights Errant, trying to batch-paint knights for the first time. The horses are basically done, will start with their bardings tomorrow.

*jaw hits keyboard*

I'd swear if I could still speak...

I mean....fwaa.

I confess to never seeing one of your minitures before...

That's just ridiculous.

Give me a minute and I'll post something coherant! Until then be satisfied that I'm still foaming at the mouth
