New to Warhammer, first 1000pt Bretonnia army list 3 Years, 10 Months ago
My friend and i are going to start playing Warhammer, and i chose to play Bretonnians, mostly because i liked their knightly units. We decided to start with 1000pt armies, so i got the army book and i threw together a list that i thought looked cool, only knights, but i'd appreciate any comments to see if its actually an army that is decent when you play and not just a cool idea.
So here's the list:

Paladin( the general )
Warhorse
Grail Vow
Armour of Agilulf
The Wyrmlance
140pts

Paladin( BSB )
Warhorse
Birth-sword of Carcassonne
109pts

9 Knights of the Realm
Full Command
240pts

11 Knights of the Realm ( BSB goes in this unit )
Champion
Musician
264pts

5 Grail Knights
Full Command
220pts

Total 973pts
I'd really appreciate any pointers on how to improve the army.

You have 3 units in 1000 points. Its a hit and miss list. Any army will outnumber you and outdance you.

I'd recommend dropping the Grail Knights, completely unneeded in 1000 points. Maybe even dropping all the magical gear from the General.

Add some Errants or Bowmen.

Ok, i tried to do some changes to my list, and here's what i came up with:

Paladin ( General )
-Warhorse
-Lance
-Shield
-80pts

Paladin ( BSB )
-Warhorse
-74pts

8 Knights of the Realm
-Full Command
-216pts

8 Knights of the Realm
-Musician
-200pts

9 Knights Errant -or- 36 Men at Arms
-Full Command -Full Command
-Errantry Banner -207pts
-221pts

20 Peasant Bowmen
-120pts

Total: 911pts or 897pts
That leaves me with either 89 or 103 pts to spend on items for heroes and/or upgrades for the Bowmen. Don't really know how to spend those points.
Is this a better list?

Drop the paladin and 4 men at arms for a trebuchet they are amazing in this edition and will (unless it misfires and kills itself) do more damage by a long way.

Other then that it looks great I would take the men at arms over the knights because then you will have something you can counter-deploy to hold up something you want to like a unit of grave guard or similar when your knights wont be able to.

Good list.

He can't drop a paladin (he needs a BSB and the BSB can't be the general as well). I'd go for the Men-at-Arms and then drop a few bowmen (15 is plenty in my opinion) for a trebuchet. You might take a cheap magic item or a Virtue if you want one. (Virtue of Joust or a Sword of Biting/Might or an echanted shield for your BS. Alternatively you can fill up your men-at-Arms to forty a respectable amount that can hold any charge if a Knight is nearby to raise their leadership.

I would take the men at arms, then add a trebuchet. After that, you can add a couple cheap magic weapons (warrior bane, tormentor's blade) to the heroes or a charmed shield to the paladin and a weapon to the general. Only a very cheesy git would take ethereals in a 1000 point army. However, they tend to be drawn to Vampire Counts anyway...
Not counting multi-player games...
Eighth Edition Record:

16W-4L in Singles Play
