Bretonnian Lord equipment combos 11 Years, 5 Months ago
What do you guys and gals outfit your Lord for? Character Killing, Rank and File Killing, etc. And how do you outfit them?

I was think for a tough character/monster killing combo would be:
Sword of the Lady's Champion
Armor of Agilulf
Grail Shield
Riding a Pegasus

3+ to hit, 3+ to wound and a 4+ ward save. I think that would put a crimp in most bad guys day.

What are your thoughts?

I alwais use Mithrill (now gromrill) Great Helm + Enchanted Shield as defense.
The other 60 pts depend from the scenario . I do not play standard tournaments.
But I especially like the General-monster slaughter with Virtue of Confidence and Sword of Heroes. It works well only with H-t-H enemies like (like chaos, ogre, etc..) but it's so cool to field such Epic Fantasy character; general Vs general. the Bretonnian winner..

My Lord rides with one of my Knight Errant units and is set up to take out nasty characters.

Typically I use the Questing Vow
The virtue of Confidence
Guantlet of the Duel
Gromril Great Helm
Insignia of the Quest
Heavy Armour and Shield (the shield is for arrows etc)
Great Swoird
and a barded Bretonnian Warhorse of course.

This allows my general to always offer challenges that must be accepted, reroll to hit and to wound rolls with his great sword, reroll his own 2+ armour save and when down to his last wound gain a 3+ ward save. I'd wager he could even handle a Blood Dragon Vampire with this gear (used to lose to them all the time in 5th Ed)

I killed one in the first round of combat, but with a slightly different equipment:

  • Heavy Armour

  • Questing Vow

  • Sword of the Quest

  • Virtue of Confidence

  • Gauntlet of the Duel

  • Enchanted Shield

With all the Re-Rolls and no armor save allowed, I use the Sword of the Quest one-handed, giving +2 Armour save with the Enchanted Shield.

I must admit that it's less armoured that way (no re-rolls there), but will cause more damage.

I doubt that the rules admit that you can give your lord the Armor of Agilulf and the Grail Shield, as they are two armor items.

For challenging hostile heros I use a paladin with the Virtue of Confidence and the Morningstar of Fracasse.

My lord rides a pegasus and is equipped with a lance the Grail Shield and Isolde's Ringlet and the Virtue of Knightly Temper (so he might get up to eight attacks!!!).

Plz correct my bad english.

On my lord, Briston, a usualy have Birth-Sword of Carcassonne, Enchanted Shield, Gilded Cuirass. This gives him S5, re-roll foe AS, 3+ AS, 4+ regeneration and blessing! And he rides a hippogryph! Expencive but nearly immortal! (exept when he got run down after breaking in CC... )

You may be right about the Armor of Agilulf and Grail shield, but as the others said could be combined with normal armor the Grail shield just said with armor, so I took a chance.

I was under the impression that the Armor of Aguilif automatically includes a shield, and thus cannot be combined with any other shield (nor with a two handed weapon, for that matter).

Indeed it does. I stand corrected. Thanks for the heads up

I was thinking of this:

Armor of Agilulf
Sword of the Lady's Champion
Virtue of Audacity.

Against high strength characters, monsters, etc. 3+ to hit, 3+ to wound and can re-roll misses to hit and wound. Definitely can deal out some damage, but only has a 3+ save on a Pegasus.

I recently changed my lord from dragon claw+gauntlet+virtue of confidence+sword of the lady c. to grail shield+virtue of confindence+sword of the lady c.

Not a god of battle, but he can make something good out of challanges

P.s:oh,forgot to mention the lance, for all those boring elves and co. with re 3 and near 0+ AS that would made useless the sword

I set mine up to slaughter the rank and file, and be fairly cheap.

Virtue of Knightly temper, Cuirass of fortune+a great weapon/lance

on the charge this gives an average of 6/7 kills

as hits on 3+, wounds on 2+ with re-rolls

this normally results in one miss thus 7 kills

i have an extra 40 points of magic items if i want but as he has 2+ armour and blessing i don't bother

this comes out as only 210 points

The stronger General I 've evere created:

Questing Lord on warhorse, with great weapon,
Virtue of Knightly Temper,
Cuirass of Fortune, Isolde' Tress (?mistake?),Lady Elena's Cloak (?mistake?)
In The Old Wood We\'ll Find The Lady\'s Blessing !

My lord is equiped with
The Virtue of Purity
Sword of the Lady's Champion
Cuiress of Fortune
Mantle of the Damsel Elane

However a really tough defensive combo I've figured out is
Gilded Cuirass
Dragon's Claw
and then what ever one wants to fill the remainder

The immunity from fire attacks granted by the claw basicly makes the regen.into a seconed wardsave.

I notice that only 2 people use pegasus and there is just 1 hippogriff out there, and I was wondering in why people don't.

Don't pegasus and Hippogrffs count as riden monsters, so mean that you don't get the armour bonous.

I'm building my first lord (normally I run with just paladins)

Grail vow
Virtue of Audacity
Grail Shield
Sword of Hero's
Lance
