Alternative minis resources 7 Months, 1 Week ago
HI
I thought I would share this stuff . I discovered it the other day when I was shopping for alternative minis for the new derundal knights and men at arms .
basically this site is a review site for plastic solider kits . It is very complete , you can search by the manufactures and there various kits . What I really like about it is they show photos of the models in the kits , and they also have a scale diagram just below the pics that shows you where the models fall on the size chart . It was very handy in helping me select kits to buy .

This is a similar site but they sell stuff . what i liked about them is they have good pics of the sprues that come in the various boxes .

Hey, thanks for the great resource. Plastic Soldier Review is excellent for those brands I have never heard of, and it gives great pics. Good post!

Interesting, are you playing with 20mm (1/72) miniatures?
Which ruleset are you using?

1/72 should be close to 28mm as far as i can see . most are in the 25 to 26 mm size which is close , plus they have the base which will bump the height when mounted onto a square base . it is why i like the the little size diagram at the bottom of the review . it gives an estimate of size . i just ordered a bunch of hat and ZVEZDA minis from ebay cheap . They should be here next week I will post pics once i get them .

1/72 is tiny compared to WFB. About half the size, as I recall.

yeah i just noticed that last night when i was looking as some boxes of models and noticed i had a couple boxes of 1/72 scale solders they are about 15mm high . looks like i just wasted $50 on stuff . oh well that's what you get for being a cheap bugger

it is crazy frustrating trying to figure out what scale is correct . warhammer fantasy is suppose to be 28mm heroic .
1/72 scale is suppose to convert to 25mm but the figs are actually about 15mm . 1/32 is a number that gets tossed around as being comparable to 28mm but the articles online say that the figs are 54mm tall . it is like s conspiracy to keep ppl confused and frustrated .

I would highly recommend Perry miniatures for foot knight and men at arms substitutes. They sculpted the 5th edition bretonnian models and their plastic historicals fit right in with the rest of the Army asthetic. $40 for 36 foot knights ain't too shabby either.

Hail! Anyone have experience with Gamezone Miniatures? Their feudal range looks great in pictures. Just wondering if the minis actually live up to the look.

Have no worry on their quality, they are fantastic models.

This valiant knight painted up one such model.

It is a confounding business...

Take a look at the first post in this thread on the New Terragenesis forum:
The Post With All The Scales
It may help.

This scribe's humble opinions are:
Citadel figures are bigger than 28mm.
Warhammer Fantasy: should be considered 30mm figures.
Warhammer Fantasy: 1 inch on the tapletop equals about 5 feet; a 20x20mm base is 4x4 scale feet.
Warhammer Fantasy: scale is honestly, closest to 1:60.
1:32 Scale would be pretty close to a 54mm figure.
Figures churned out by GeeDub for AoSigmar are bigger still and it is up to each hobbyist to decide that the newest figures are either 7 to 8 feet tall or some new, larger scale.

Sir Gaius Rook,

I can confirm that the Gamezone Knights are fantastic minis with a wealth of very fine detail. The Horses can be a pain to attach to the bases as they often have small tabs but they do look great. I use them for Characters and my Grail Knights.

My Lord Baron,

I am flattered that you would use my model of Lord Caerluel to showcase a Gamezone Knight. my thanks to you good sir.

Your humble Servant,

Lord Caerluel.
May the Lady protect and the fates guide your sword.

Anyone use Fireforege's Deus Vult? I've been considering buying some, the Men-at-Arms series looks great for peasants, Templars would be nice Horsemen, Teutons would fit in nicely for Knights.
