HEAR YE! HEAR YE!!

Sir Aaric, Lord of the Green, Shield of the North, Defender of the Lady, Scourge of the Orcal, second son of the Duke of Quenelles, doth greet and compel thee to make haste to his merry gathering and celebration of the Harvest!! In honor of the season, and of the Lady, a Great Tournament and Faire shall be held on the fields of northern Quenelles, off of the Great Southern road that connects Aquitane and Montlac. The Castle of Canton, located on the southern banks of the tributary that leads into the River Morceaux, shall host all gathered Nobles and Knights for the ensuing festivities.

Make haste, as the celebrations are underway and shall commence with the Great Harvest Tournament, to be held at the end of September!!

I hope that you all enjoyed my introduction, and understand whereabouts the tournament shall be located. I had a bit of difficulty in finding ONE single map that included the names of towns, castles, cities and rivers!! In the end, I relied mainly two such maps, mostly from the map i found on gitzmansgallery.com, and another just for the name of the river.

I digress...

As this is the first tournament that I have hosted, please bear with me.

1) The jousting tournament is limited to the first 32 Knights to enter their Names into the tournament

2) All entrants will have the Blessing of the Lady and the Virtue of the Joust, be given a Barded Warhorse, Mundane Shield, Heavy Armor, and special Tournament Lance that has a blunted end cap and confers +1S. This Lance will be the ONLY weapon used, and will be used by ALL Knights, even Questing Knights. This is a Jousting Tournament after all

3) All entrants will submit a Lord build, with no more than 75 points spent on Questing OR Grail Vow, Magic Armor, Enchanted Items or Talismans. Only one item per category may be selected. All point cost and item rules will be from the current Bretonnia Army Book and Warhammer Fantasy Rulebook WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:

Helm of Discord- 30 ponts, The wearer counts his armor save as being one point higher than normal. In addition, at the start of the Round ( so only once per combat ), the opposing Knight shall take a Leadership Test. If failed, the Helm of Discord distracts the opposing Knight and he loses 1 Attack and **EDIT** suffers a -1 to Hit penalty on attacks made against his opponent. After the first pass, the Knight may attempt to break free from the Helm's sibilant whispers of malice and jealousy, by rolling a 4+ on a D6. If failed, after the Knight may attempt a roll after each successive pass.

( Sir Aaric faces Sir Roy in the first round of combat. Sir Roy is equipped with the Helm of Discord, forcing Sir Aaric to take a leadership test before the first pass, which he fails. Sir Aaric has -1 A for the first pass, and Sir Roy is -1 to hit. After rolling for hits, wounds and saves, Sir Aaric attempts to break free from Sir Roy's Helm. Sir Aaric rolls a 2 on the D6, and still has -1 A and suffers -1 to hit Sir Roy. After the second pass, Sir Aaric rolls a 5 and breaks free from the Helm's whispers, reverting to his normal Attack value and no longer suffering a penalty to Hit. Should a Knight win his round, and not break the Helm's sway over him, he will be restored to normal Attack value and suffer no further to Hit penalties before his next combat. )

All Potions will be one use per round of combat, used at my discretion. After imbibing the Potion, the Knight will roll a D6. On a roll of 4+, the Knight is able to control his thirst and only take a sip of his precious Potion, conserving some Potion to use in the future Rounds of the Tournament. If the Knight fails this roll, his thirst and desire for victory overcomes him and he drains the entire bottle of Potion, leaving none to be drank in later Rounds.

EXAMPLE: Sir Aaric chooses to drink his Potion of Strength, he then rolls a D6 and the result is a 3. Sir Aaric puts the bottle to his lips and as the sweet, cool liquid washes down his throat he is overcome with thirst and drains the entire bottle of elixir, having spared not a single drop for the rest of the tournament.

NOTE ON ONE USE ITEMS:

Charmed Shield, Luckstone, Opal Amulet

If you make a successful use of these items, the Magic item will be restored with energy prior to the next Round of Combat and will be used again, If the roll is failed, the item had been drained of all Magic and is now just a regular shield, or rock


EXAMPLE:
Sir Aaric has the Luckstone, and he fails his first Armor Save rolling a 2, using his Luckstone, Sir Aaric rolls his Armor Save again, this time rolling a 6. Since Sir Aaric successfully used his One Use Item, some magic power remains in the item for use in the NEXT ROUND of combat.

Tress of Isoulde, Token of the Damsel

These items are One Use per Round of Combat. When used, the Knight will roll a D6, on a roll of 5+, the Magic Enchantment of the item remains, and may be used in future rounds of Combat. A failed roll will result in the item losing all Magic energy.

EXAMPLE:
Sir Aaric chooses to use the Tress of Isoulde against Sir Roy. Sir Aaric will hit Sir Roy on a 2+ in this Round of Combat. Sir Aaric the rolls a 5 on the D6, meaning that the Tress still possess some Enchantment and may be used in FUTURE rounds of Combat.

4) There are NO banned items, equip your Lord with whatever you wish, as long as you stay within the 75 point limit.

5) Due to the presence of the lists, and that this is a test of the Knight's Jousting skill, NO benefits from the Warhorse shall be added to Armor Saves nor Attacks.

( Horses do not attack, do not add to the Armor save, i.e. every Knight, before Magic Items, has a 4+/5+ save )

6) All attacks will be made on the charge ( this IS a joust after all!! )

7) All attacks will be made in order of initiative

8) There will be no fleeing, replace Terror with Fear

9) Combatants that suffer three or more unsaved wounds during a round of combat, will have suffered an injury that is carried into the following rounds of the Tournament. Type of wound is determined by the roll of 2D6 and is as follows:

2: Major injury, -1 I, -1 WS, -1 A
3-5: Minor injury, -1 S, -1 T
6-8: Sprain, -1 S
9-11: Minor Sprain, -1 T
12: Just a scratch, No lasting injury

After rolling to determine the severity of the injury, and prior to each of the next Rounds of Combat, the injured Knight may be Healed on a roll a 5+. If the combatant does not heal immediately, he will add +1 to each healing attempt in subsequent rounds. This may result in Knights having multiple injuries, if this occurs, ALL injuries will be healed with a single qualifying roll.

( Sir Aaric takes 3 wounds in the 1st round, unhorses his opponent and moves into the next round. He then rolls a 7 on the injury table, then a 2, needing a 5+, on his attempt to heal. In the 2nd round Sir Eric has minus 1 to his Strength. He manages to win his 2nd round combat, without any further injuries to roll for, and now may heal his previous injury on a roll of a 4+ )

All Knights that submit some sort of story, poem, a newly painted model ( before and after photos please! )shall receive a roll on the Lady's Tables of Favours. A roll of a single D6 shall grant the following for the entire tournament:

2 +1 S
3 +1 T
4 +1 I
5 +1 A
6 Reroll

After reading through the threads from the last two tournaments held, I will only acknowledge questions about RULE CLARIFICATION ONLY. I am, and will be, taking a lot of my own personal time to organize and run this event. If you do not like the rules that I have outlined above, then I implore you to host the next Tournament and you can change them as you wish.
