My bretonnia army in progress 1 Year, 8 Months ago
I have been working on my bretonnia army for two years now, and it is a very slow progress. I will post a few pictures now and then in order to get some feedback. Here is two of my works:

Thank you ser. checkers is time consuming but is worth it in the end. I first paint the barding in a single color, and then paint the pattern lines in black. I paint lines over the heraldry shield as well to make sure the pattern remain consistent. I then fill in the second color and do the shading in the end.

Thanks. I am aiming for a RAF army, but on the other hand I also want to include Questing knights. I know the two are not compatible, but I just love the questing knights models too much. I doubt my entire army will be fully painted before the new army book comes around, wether it is in 2014 or 2015, so I guess planning a fully painted competitive army does not make that much sense at this point .

Well done, the colors really pop and the mounts look quite realistic. I can't wait to see more.

Thank you for your comments. I usually spend more time painting the mounts than the knights on top, but that also includes the planning of heraldry. I am happy you like my color choices. Initially my thought was to use the traditional bretonnia colors only, but then I thought: what the heck, green and purle colors look great too . I will find some time to post my bretonnian lord in purple, which is mounted on a warhorse, during the weekend.

Very nice my friend, i think your army will be great at the end of your work
i would have avoided that "hearths knight" but anyway...latins used to say "De gustibus non est disputandum"
I just suggest you to pay attention to the dilution of the colors because from the pictures it looks like to be "tick"

Nicely done!
I kinda agree with Sir Galaad about the "hearts knight" Neither am I a big fan of the colours green and purple on our lovely knights... BUT on the other hand I think it really shows that if you can paint very well and commit to something you can make anything work, because, they look very nice!
How do you "plan out" the colours of the barding? I started with a planning, and when Im on the 2nd or 3rd horse, all goes horribly wrong.
Keep up the good work!

The enemies are on the left, on the right, in the rear and in front of us so... They can't get away this time!

Thank you for your feedback . I usually first decide what the two main colors is going to be, and what pattern I want to use on the barding. I decide just before I start painting, influenced mostly by my gut feeling, mood, and what I would like to paint at the moment. After I have painted the base colors, and made the outline of the pattern, I am usually not very pleased about the result. Sometimes I can leave my project for a week or two, before I find the courage to continue with the Shading. In the end I paint the rest: straps, saddle and the horse. At this point I start to find the final result pleasing, and do final adjustments, including designing the heraldry on the barding. As for the heart knight it was a suggestion from my girlfriend. A noble gest to please my lady

You are a master painter. I have tried so many times to get a checkered caparison done and every time it came out crappy. I doff my hat and expect the Lords of the Roundtable to be awarding you a Brush Award forthwith.
