Why not, sure! He does not even have to be on foot!

One restriction is that characters with the Virtue of the Penitent cannot join units; however, that character will never be on foot. Characters on flying mounts cannot join units, but once that mount is dead, the character can join a unit. The peasants would take any knight, welcome or not.

yup!
but if you charge with the whole unit than the charge range is 8" and the heroes charge with the unit but not further.

I sometimes put a Damsel in a Grail Relique to protect her and it allows her to give magic resistance. Besides that well not really, Bretonnian Character often need the charge to be effective at killing things putting them in a unit which will be charged more often seems a bit wasteful. Maybe the exception would be putting a Knight on a horse in the unit and give him the Morningstar of Fracasse. This allows him to do damage even when charged and still get a decent armoursave.

i sometimes put my damsel and my BSB in it...

so when i prepared my positions for a charge i sometimes charge with a lance and the BSB joins the charge out of the reliquae - that's usually a bad surprize... (for me too on occasion)

Re:Joining a unit 7 Years, 4 Months ago
I was thinking about making a big reliquae unit with lord on warhorse and items Ruby goblet (after character or unit looses one wound it can't be wounded on less than 3+),Grail shield( 4+ward save) and lance of Artois if i manage to charge,(but will probably put something else).

Tactics, well the main idea is to make a strong stubborn unit with lord so he can challenge, and with 3+ to wound him and 4+ ward save should be resilient, and to push it forward and let the enemies charge it or to charge them if in range, than with 3 other lances flank the units that have charged or have been charged by the reliquae, or kill the other units while the reliquae is fighting the enemies elite unit/s if possible unbreakable and/or stubborn unit/s, eg. hammerers ... Reliquae should hold them enough while you take out the non elite units with your lances (that have enough static cr) + wounds, which shold be an enigma to any non stubborn/unbreakable units. and with bsb near hope i wont fail the ld test twice!

The main problem with a reliquae? It flees if defeated by larger fear-causing units. There are lots of those.

Eh... I put my Lord on a horse and in my GR unit sometimes... it's pretty cool and fluffy being a grail lord and all. It gives him that added piece of protection and all.

Just my two cents I'd keep him on the horse

Unless they changed the rule and I didn't see it?
