Battle Reports by Oncebitten on Youtube 6 Years, 4 Months ago
Hey all,
After playing Bretonnians for almost a year now, I finally thought of looking for a Bretonnian-specific forum. It's good to be here. I've posted many of my battles on youtube. If interested, here they are in chronological order.
I didn't see anything in the Rules about posting links. However, if I missed something, please just let me know and I will structure my posts differently.

Nice reports, good pics and clear comment, I like it!
Just saw the one versus Ogres - I think somebody needs to burn his dice.
I did notice what I think is a small error: both your and his units that were panicking seemed to be running straight towards the table edge, while in this edition units usually run directly away from the unit or event that panicked them.

Yes, the ogre player's dice were awful that game, but he was a very good sport about it. Also, I remember the whole 'direction of fleeing' thing that game. He insisted that everyone fled directly towards the nearest table edge, and I just let it go.

I love these battles. see tactics, other army tactics. It is all nice and good explaned. It almost feels like you are there next tot the table. I prefer these above White dwarf battle reports. also nice to see the army getting painted true the serie

I'd sticky this thread, well worth for any beginner to see these movies on how to play Warhammer with Bretonnians. You use a decent mix of units aswell, so thats a big pro.

I definitely support Artinam's sticky request!
These are well made and as informative as anything I've seen on Bret tactics. Just the kind of stuff that we should actively make available for the Bret community.

I don't know what's involved in sticky-ing it, but I assume that's a moderator's job. That's fine with me.
For anyone who hasn't watched them yet, don't get your hopes up too high. The series starts with me having played maybe a half-dozen games with Brets - and having played WFB for less than a year. I make mistakes all the time. Also, because of my inexperience, I often got surprised when I played a new army. There are some hard lessons learned in these batreps. I'm not content with my generalship yet, but it's definitely a lot better now than it was a year ago when this series started. (That being said, my win ratio is probably 80%, so I'm not too awful.)
So, in addition to showing how Bret generalship might improve over time, the series is pretty good at showing some of the tricks that other armies have, how to avoid them - and what can happen if you're not aware of what is coming your way (fanatics, assassin, stegadon, etc.).

I played a game against Tomb Kings a couple nights ago - my first time against them. I added to the list at the top of the forum, or you can use these:

That would be great. They're easy once you've done them a time or two. I'd love to see more of this type of battle report.
Thanks for the feedback on the relique. I can't decide if I like it or not. To be useful against all the fear causers out there, I have to make sure it isn't outnumbered - and that can be pricey. Plus, I'd need to keep my bsb nearby, as a re-rollable stubborn 8 is a lot more effective than without the re-roll. I'm hesitant to take a unit that requires so many points and much babysitting.

OK, I took photo's from a game tonight in preparation for doing a BR like these. What software are you using to join the pics and voice, and then post to you tube?
Re:Battle Reports on youtube 6 Years, 4 Months ago
When I explain how to do this, people sometimes think it's difficult. Really it's not. Bear with me during the explanation...
First I take pictures with a digital camera. I think I'm getting better at the quality of the pics, but regardless ... I try to give people an overview of the board so they can see the relative positions of the various units, and then I try to take some close-ups (especially of painted units) because, well, it just looks better.
Then I import the pics into my computer. Actually, I use my wife's Mac because it has a built in microphone. Once the pics are on the computer, I place them in the slideshow software program: Keypoint for Mac, PowerPoint for a PC. I create a separate document for every 25-30 slides because youtube is only going to allow your video to be <= 10:59, and for me that # of slides works pretty well. If you are 1 second over, you'll spend hours uploading everything just to have it fail when youtube tries to process it.
Then I review the pics - making sure they're in the order I want. I also insert text boxes with the turn # so I can keep track of what's going on.
Now it's time to record your voiceover. I don't know how to do it on a PC, but just use your help function to learn how to record a voiceover on top of your slides. I've found it useful to have a timer available so I can know when I'm approaching the 11 minute mark. Also, if you make a mistake recording, it is possible to insert a new recording over the mistake. However, I wouldn't recommend it. If you've seen all my videos, you'll notice that some of them have the sound omitted for a few minutes, or have the sound and slides un-synchronized. That only happened to those videos I tried to 'fix.' So, if you make a mistake, just start the recording all over again.
Once that is done, you need to convert the file into a quicktime movie (or similar format). In Keypoint, you click 'share' and then 'export' and the rest is easy. I don't know how to do it in PowerPoint, but I'm sure it's just as easy. It takes 10 minutes or so for this conversion process. Afterward, save your file and upload it to youtube.
It takes about 3 hours for me to upload each 11-minute video. So, I make sure that my computer settings are such that it won't turn off or hibernate due to inactivity. I wait til everyone is going to bed and I queue all the segments to upload. By the time I wake up, everything should be ready. (I do it at night because my wife thinks the uploading really slows down our Internet.)
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.
