Around midnight they got back the door of the dwarven hold. They were quickly admitted and the rock wall sealed up again behind them. Here they were able to get full treatment for their wounds and bury Johannes with honour before they set off back to Altdorf.

This time, they passed along dwarven roads, and Sir Robert and Donal did indeed wonder at the glories of the dwarf's workmanship. They travelled with Garin to Zhufbar, then were able to take ship down the Aver through the Moot of the Halflings to Nuln, where another boat took them on to Altdorf. Here they were greeted by Sir Orin, who received the broken sword of de Swandle from Sir Robert and confirmed him in his full knighthood. Sir Orin remained in Altdorf, but Sir Robert and Donal took horses and rode back over the Axebite Pass to Bretonnia and then back to Ælfinfort.
