document_edit.png As part of our tenth anniversary, the Round Table hosts its traditional literature competition. Participants have until the end of the 21st of November 2015 GMT to upload their specific entry for the competition. Upload your submissions to the ‘Literature’ section. Choose ‘Anniversary Literature Competition 2015’ in the category.

(NB: If you haven't submitted a story yet, you should ask Guillaume le Courageux or Uther Di Asturien the clearance to be able to post new articles).

This year's theme will be "The Eternal Spirit of Bretonnia in a New Age" to celebrate our history but also our future, potentially in the Age of Sigmar. How you interpret this theme as a whole or in parts is up to you, but please note that following the theme is one of the criteria for judging.

If you want other members to proofread the first draft and listen to their opinions in order to build the strongest story, you are free to create a thread to discuss your story in the sub-forum ‘The Hall of the Bards’. Keep in mind though that only submissions to the 'Literature’ section count and you cannot change it anymore (at least until after the competition).

Also don’t forget that you can read last year’s entries in the ‘Literature’ section : have a look into the annual ‘Anniversary Literature Competition’ categories.

The Rules

  • Each member can submit at most one submission
  • Your submission must be related to Bretonnia and be set entirely in the Warhammer World.
  • Your submission must be a new one: i.e. you may not have submitted it to the literature section here or on another website in the past. Plagiarism will not be tolerated!
  • The story should at least be one page (+/-1000 words) and at the most three pages (+/- 3000 words) long.
  • Please use a standard font (Times New Roman 12, Calibri 11 or use the default font styles in the Editor when sending in the article), standard interpunction and interlines.
  • It should be a stand-alone short story with no ties to other stories.

Here are the five criteria the Judges will base themselves on to grade your submission:

  • Creativity (20): How creative and fresh was your story? Did it enthral the reader or was it more like a newspaper article? Another damsel-in-distress story or a true ballad of heroism? Does the story have a certain depth or is it a walk from point A to point B?
  • Theme (10): Did you you follow the theme / topic of the competition in your story?
  • Readability (10): How well written was your piece in fact? Was it a smooth read or was the reader's experience hampered by too many interpunctions, degradations and so on?
  • Consistency (10): Does the entire story add up or is the reader lost in the many contradictions? No plotholes or does the character's colour of hair change with every page for example? Is the usage of tenses correct or does the writer change between past and present?
  • Correctness (10): Is the story conform with the rules set out for the competition or did the writer choose his own path at his own risk?

The Staff of the Round Table wishes the inspiration of the muse to you and good luck.

This thread discusses the Content article: 10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015)

Here's a reminder that the original deadline (end of this month) is approaching. Just as with the painting competition, we're considering an extension because we haven't received any submissions so far. Who's working on a piece for the literature competition, or would consider a last-minute submission and needs more time?
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Oct 29 2015 19:09
I have finished a story, and intend to submit it today. Hopefully there will be other entries, since it would be kind of boring to take first, second and third place simply by default.
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Oct 29 2015 20:19
By popular demand, we're extending the deadline by three weeks until November 21st. Don't miss it!
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Oct 30 2015 17:11
I missed the post about the extension and submitted my story today in a bit of a panic/rush. Is there any way I can take it back and resubmit at a slightly later date once I have had some time to edit it a little more? I would really appreciate the extra time, but I understand if that's not possible!
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Oct 31 2015 00:37
@TheRedCrossKnight: Seeing as how others might now have more time to polish their stories, I do not see why we should not allow you to use this time as well.

You can resubmit your piece, as long as there is a final version by the new deadline!

Thank you very much!

The deadline is fast approaching. Who else has written, or is still writing, a story besides me and The Red Cross Knight?
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Nov 18 2015 20:55
Only three days left for the competition! Anyone is invited to join in last-minute.

Of course you can also update your submissions or re-submit updated versions.
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Nov 20 2015 18:23
Just submitted my updated entry, it has the same title as my first one but is obviously the story submitted later. Thanks and here's to a good competition!
Re:10th Anniversary Literature Competition (2015) Nov 21 2015 21:53
This will be the first time in 5 years that I have not written an entry for the Literature Competition.

GW and this AoS direction have really just killed everything Warhammer-wise for me.

Rendering me naught but a senile Questing Knight lost in a distant age

Best of luck to all of the other entrants, I look forward to reading your entries.
