anniversary5.pngWhat would be an anniversary withouth our traditional painting competition! Of course this also holds for our 5th anniversary this year. Until November 8th 2010 (deadline extended) everybody can upload their submissions in the category "Anniversary Painting Competition" in the Gallery. To participate, just upload the image in your Gallery User Panel and choose Anniversary Painting Competition as category.

If needed, I will set up appropriate sub-categories later, depending on the number of submitted pictures. Read on for the rules and details.

The Rules

  1. Each member may submit at most one submission (=character, unit, scenery...)
  2. You should upload more than one picture showing your submission from different angles. However, please don't upload more than three images per submission. You can combine multiple pictures (e.g. with different perspectives or details) into one image file using an image editing program like Gimp or Photoshop. The better the lighting and qualtity of your pictures and the more you show of your miniature, the better the quality of your miniatures can be judged!
  3. As with the rest of the gallery, please upload only pictures of your own miniatures.
  4. Your submission must be related to Bretonnia.
  5. Your submission must be a new one, i.e. you may not have submitted it to the gallery here or elsewhere in the past. It's OK if you just uploaded it to our gallery recently, just move it to the painting competition gallery then.
  6. Please do not vote for the images in the Anniversary Competition until submission is closed. After that everybody can vote for their favourites. The jury will consider the votes when reviewing the submissions.

Click the article button, that'll tell you

Basically, every year (That's the anniversary part) there's a painting competition...

People post pictures of their painted Bretonnian minitures (meant to be painted specifically for the competition) onto the player gallery here, after a while entries are no longer accepted and people are given a certain amount of time to vote on their favourite mini's.

There are different catagories for single models, units, monsters and diorama's etc. The top 3 all get a medal on-site, fame and glory and all the other things any good Bretonnian enjoys

But yes, there's some very good painters here on-site, and the winners are always spectacular, so watch this space!

EDIT: This is the discussion page for it, the details of the actual competition can be found by clicking the link in Duke of Cologne's post.

Or, if it's any easier, Here

As there are already some entries submitted - which is great! - a note about one of the changes in the rules: Please don't upload more than three separate images for your submission as we don't want to compare 10 different images per submission when judging. Three should be good enough to show your submission from a few angles. If you need more or want to add a few detail close-ups, you can combine several picture into one with image editing software such as GIMP or Photoshop.

It's also beneficial to invest some time to have you're images in the best quality available - lighting, background, image quality - so we can best judge your miniature.

We decided to extend the deadline for both competitions, painting and writing. That means that you'll now have one more week to finish and submit your masterpieces! The new deadline is 0.00 GMT on November 8th.

Well, all I can say is that I'm really pleased that I wasn't able to enter the Painting Competition this year, because of my extended vacation.

The standard of entries this year is really, really high and I don't envy the judges their task of choosing who the winner will be and who'll take 2nd and 3rd places.

They're so incredibly good, especially the entries from Fitz Chevalric, Jofroi, APE47, Rambogranchio, Nuclealosaur, Harolde B de Raconteur and Justinrem0d.

Wow! Amazing entries!

Good luck to you all.

Sir Guy

You still have a week to finish and send in an entry, Sir Guy

You've got to be kidding, right?

Unfortunately (or perhaps even fortunately), I haven't the time this week, otherwise I might have risen to the challenge.

Most definitely, next year though ...
