One early misty morning sir Hengist Korraine arrived at the village of Bairitz. . . . on foot. His horse and unfortunatly drowned in the River Niveau. As he walked thru the village he noticed a crowd of villagers gathered around a fisherman near the tower: "I kid you not there are dark beings on the river. I heard a roar which sounded like a whole graveyard of tortured souls and I saw a strange ship on the river. Dark and jagged it was with cold cruel laughter coming from it. We are doomed I tell you, this is the end of us. Flee, flee I tell you." Before the fisherman started running Sir Hengist Korraine spoke up: " If you flee it will be the death of all of you. Rather light the signal fire upon the tower and call the men to arms. I Sir Hengist Korraine will help you defeat this terrible enemy" The peasants stared at him as if he were an angel: " Staring wont help. Man that trebuchet, set the stakes, hurry for our enemies are upon us soon!" "Sgt. Jasper Carrot and the Badwall M@A reporting for duty sah." "Tell me Sgt. Carrot who holds Badwall and when can we expect relief?" "Whoo I dunno sir. Lord Ysgarran is off questing but her lady Hekate is in charge. We are hoping that Arsen and his Mntd. Yeomen are near too." "Well it looks like we gonna have to win this one on our own. Skirmish bowmen on the rrright Flank . . . ." This battle took place on a 55`x 55`field. The brettonians were only allowed to set up their infantry whilst the KoR and the MY stayed off the board. Only arriving from if I diced a 6 for The KoR or a 5+6 for the MY improving by 1 step each turn thereafter. Brettonians had to set up the whole army afterwhich the Darkelves could set up. As the first archers on the left flank went down in a hail of death coming from hidden foes in the woods Meanwhile on the right flank The enemy approuched On the right flank the peasant archer spied Darkriders:" Notch them Arrrows, aaaaaaaiim and fire." By the luck of the witches tit the skirmishing bowmen felled 2 of the Dark riders. . . . . who. . . . . . . Fail their panic roll and upon fleeing thru the cosairs cause them to panic as well. From that point on nothing effective happened on the right flank due to failed rally rolls and bad luck on my opponents behalf. "Come get some more you baaaarstards" Meanwhile on the left flank . . . . More death rained upon the archers. The Trebuchet could not shoot due to hangovers from cheap wine and a hail of bolts from the Dark Elf RBT. "Foward maaaaarch!" Sir Korrain gave the command from the back and the M@A marched foward. However a great terror came over the forest. "Its only a beast men. Stand your ground!" Sir Korrain shouted from the back (Passed Terror test due to Virtue of empathy) Meanwhile the archers fled into the tower and Arsens MY had just arrived. The witch and her Dark riders attacked the Trebuchet. Sir Korraine moved toward the tower. The treb crew were overrun and the Darkriders slammed into the newly arrived MY who due to the witches confusion and a stone from the sling of a young redheaded boy failed to cause any casualties. They were held Whilst the Badwall M@A heard the horn of Sir Korrain. But would they attack? Indeed they did believing the words of Sir Korrain. The arrogant beastmaster chose to stand and fight . . . . Sir Korraine seeing his peasants charge attacked the witch in the rear. The darkriders were defeated and Sir Korraine captured the Witch. Meanwhile the M@A defeated the Manticore and chased it down slaying and hacking brutaly only as angered peasants can be. But their Victory could not be savoured. Death rained upon them and many died... . . . . . Their only hope was to charge into the woods........... Which they promptly did. And lo a great shout of joy The Lady Hekate and her Knights had arrived. . . . . though their help was no longer needed. For the peasants killed what was left The rest was mopping up And hail the Heros of Bairitz...... Sir Hengist Korraine and And the Badwall M@A. Now there will be a punitive action to chase the wicked elves from the lands of Brettonia.
