Rules for the minigame: The Peasant Hunt of Sir Reginald
Sir Reginald de l’Oiseau – somewhat unusually – regularly releases peasant prisoners and debtors in a forest near his castle. He then rides out with his guests, hunting them rather than subjecting them to more conventional punishment. Any who manage to escape both the hunters and the archers surrounding the woods are allowed to go free. However, not many make it . . .
Players: 2+
One player takes
the peasants; the others each take a noble and that noble’s yeomen. The
number s of yeomen and peasants depend on the number of players.
-
2 players = 4 yeomen per noble, 8 peasants
-
3 players = 3 yeomen per noble, 15 peasants
-
4 players = 2 yeomen per noble, 24 peasants
-
5 players = 1 yeoman per noble, 30 peasants
- 6+ players = no yeomen, 25 peasants, +5 per extra player
Board:
The board should be square, with 4 feet to a side. It should be scattered with as many individual trees as possible.
Deployment:
The peasants set
up within 6 inches of the center of the table. All nobles and retainers
deploy in base contact with a board edge.
Objectives:
The peasant player
must get as many of his models as possible off the board, while the
nobles are trying to hunt all the peasants. For each peasant off the
board, the peasant player gains 1 point. For each peasant hunted down,
the noble who (or whose yeomen) manage to remove a peasant, that player
gains a point. The player (noble or peasant) to gain the most points
wins.
