Issuing the Challenge

Bretonnia is a generally peaceful place where people of most all races are allowed. This means the ignorant, rude, uncultured, and offensive. To prevent nasty things like bar brawls, conspircay, murder, and Shakesperean revenge and tragedy; Bretonnia has a famous custom of settling matters with a Duel of Honour. To issue a challenge, simply go to the Duels of Honour thread, located in the Guildhall of the Wayfarers(Rp Section), and state the offense given and the challenge. A neutral referee or moderator will show up saying they will roll the dice. Send the neutral party your character, and the referee will fight out the duel and post in a nice and literary manner.

  Selecting the Combatant

In a general sense, most Bretonnian characters are Lords with the Knight's vow who ride Barded Warhorses and carry a lance, sword, and shield. As far as Virtues are concerned, just follow the rules! If you don't know the rules, can't remember the rules, or just had a light air-craft hit you in the head and you don't know who you are or what your doing here; then allow me to refresh your memory.                                                                          For Bretonnians-

100 points of magic Items/Virtues

Only one piece of Magic Armour(excluding Enchanted Shield)

One piece of Magical Weaponry(so no magic lance and magic hand weapon)

For Duel purposes, we are going to say no magic banners either. That is just silly in a Duel of Honour. All characters are to be mounted, unless stated beforehand that it is a combat on foot; the duel is in essence a Joust of honour.

NO missile weapons may be taken. This is about may the best man win, not the guy with gun.

The Combat Phase

All fights in the Arena are simultaneous. This means that both characters start 16" away from one another and count as charging at the same time, striking one another in the shield. If either party takes a wound, then they must pass a toughness test of be unhorsed, thus losing the duel. If both characters are unhorsed at the same time then the fighting conitnues on foot, in which case magical hand weapons come into play. If both parties unhorse reduce one another to zero wounds at the same time, then the duel is a draw. Note, please don't forget that fighting with a Mundane hand weaon and shield confers a +1 armour save on foot.

Banned Items

Duels are meant to beS a true test of wit and prowess. So as a general rule of thumb, certain items are banned. Not that the Lady would abandon us for sure, but don't hold your breath if you are facing a Runefang(lightsaber). As such, these items are banned:

Van Horstmann's speculum

Sword of Fate

The Daemonsword

The Fellblade

The BaneHead

The Grudge Rune

The Talisman of Saphery

Kurbog's Curmodgeonly Klobbera

Annoyance of Netlings

Foreign Characters

It is altogether possible that foreigners will insult Bretonnians. As such, foreign characters may be brought in. The rules are simple. Choose a "Fighting" character, as your normal army book states, and they must be of equal or lesser points cost to the Bretonnian character to insure a fair duel. Your character must be mounted, though they may not be mounted on any monsters, unless your book says that your character cannot be mounted. If your character or steed has movement of less than 6 then they do not count as charging. If a Bretonnian character is unhorsed by a character on foot, than they continue fighting. They do not lose for being unhorsed as their opponent was on foot to begin with

Customize!

If you ever feel yourself urging to change the rules so you can ride dragons and fo at it, then as long as your opponent agree's to it, it is legal. Feel free to tweak rules as you want, this will make things interesting
