Bretonnia vs Dark Elves 1000 points (The slave trade)
Page 2

Scenario: Standard engagement.

Army points:

Bretonnia :  988points

Dark Elves: 992points

The Field: (View from Bretonnian deployment)

The field was set up on the outskirts of a village with several houses (4 to be exact) on the right hand side, adding some cover and ability to move units between the houses. Near the Dark Elf deployments, left side was a huge hill that gave good cover for the elves, and an old stonewall that stretched across a third their zone.

Scenario as follows:

The morning sun was slowly rising over the horizon as the Bretonnian force lead by Sir Arthur Ferran slowly moved near some of the nearby farms just outside the town of Littleton.

With morning dew covering the ground, it would have been a fine morning if it were not for the screams, coming from just over the hill.

Sir Ferran signalled for his troops to form up and spurred his horse, hurrying to find the source of the terrified locals, and when he reached the peak he saw a fate about to happen to the villagers, a fate he would not wish on his worst enemy.

Elves, with pale skin clad in black armour dragged screaming women out of their houses, and their husbands lay strewn dead over the ground, pierced by short barbed bolts.

With a look of disgust on his face, Sir Ferran realised the Elves were ready for him and his men and how the enemy general already had sent his troops towards Sir Ferran’s position.

Turn 1

DE:

Lord Sesostris saw the pathetic knights on the other end of the field and ordered his troops forward, and saw how his warriors armed their crossbows as they took position by the old stone wall. Tevarith and his dark riders while moving forth fired their crossbows towards the unprotected enemy archers.

As a black tide of armor and shining steel, did he march forth with his Crossairs to his right side, and how the Executioners moved at the far end in behind the hill for cover from enemy fire.

Bretonnia:

It was with mixed feelings that Sir Ferran saw how four peasants fell before they had gotten into position themselves, their bodies pierced by the barbed bolts. But the sadness of their fate, was overshadowed by the fact that they held their lines and fired their bows in return. Two throngs of archers painted the sky black as their arrowed crossed over the field into the enemy riders.

With a smile on his lips, and knowing the Lady was on his side, ordered his near dozen knights into a slow trot forth, their banners fluttering in the morning breeze.  Sir Reginald carrying the Valorous battle standard moved on in towards the farms to ensure no enemy lurked in their shadows. As Sir Ferran led the rest of the knights in a direct line towards the approaching elves.

Turn 2:

DE:

Sesostris knew that he had to meet the knights on his own terms, as he lacked the heavy cavalry the Bretonnians had in to many numbers themselves. Using the farms as cover from the enemy he moved into position to flank the enemy knights, as the Crossairs took the duty as bait to lure the enemy in.

The Bretonnian light cavalry that rode quickly towards the hill in hopes to flank his own troops quickly fell as bolts pierced their bodies, and only one of them managed to escape the wrath of the Dark elf warriors and Dark Riders.

He called out for his troops to brace themselves to the initial impact, that he knew would be deciding for the outcome of the battle.

Bretonnian:

With the banner of war raised high, Sir Ferran realised that a quick charge most likely would be a trap but with faith in the lady he lowered his lance and ordered the charge into the Dark Elf lines. What the Elves did not know, was that Sir Reginald was approaching from among the farms to flank the enemy lines.

The ground rumbled, as the knights of Breton charged the enemy lines, Ferran towards the executioner, and Sir Tolouse charged the Executioners on the other side of the battlefield.

Arrows and bolts were still traded over his head, and Ferran barely noticed how his Yeomen fell under bolts, moments before the Dark Riders themselves fell for the Peasants vengeance.

Turn 3

DE:

Otronicë the assassin, saw the knights ride around the corner and filled with confidence he strode out and issued the pompous knight, into a challenge. A wide grin spread over his lips, as he saw the nod from the knight carrying the huge elaborate standard, and how he dismounted his horse while the other knights held their places, as the Paladin drew his sword.

Sesostris, smiled as his Crossairs held their lines after the initial charge from the knights, perhaps due to the influence of their banner of Nagaryth that swayed over their heads. With the charge done and over with, he ordered his own Black guard to charge the flank of the knights, as Otronicë held the reinforcement knights at bay.

Off to the other side of the battlefield, the Executioners managed to kill the Gallant knight, yet the knights held their own and slew even more of the Dark Elves.

Bretonnia:

Sir Ferran felt a tang of fear as the black clad heavy infantry charged his flank, and how the Dark Elves before him did not yield an inch. He swung his sword of might time and time again, and each time a Dark Elf fell under his blade, yet something kept them from breaking.

His only hope now rested in the Lady’s luck, as he saw Sir Tolouse fall, and how his brethren knights kept fighting without their Gallant leader.

To make things worse, Sir Reginald kept fighting the dark elf clad in a black cloak among the houses and while he managed to stay alive, while bleeding, he could not break the elf’s defence.
