An idea for using small units of archers together with units of Men at Arms

Our Longbowman have a 30" range right? Well not many armies have that so I have come up with an idea. Field all our bowmen in 10 man units. These ten man units will be formed up in a single row facing the enemy, and they will march to be within 30" of our enemy. They can fire at this range, and it will take time for them to reach our men.

What about the men at arms you ask, well these men will march right behind the bowmen, and when the enemy moves close, have your archers reform into two columns, so our soldiers can attack the enemy.

Also position the archers an extra 2 coulmns either to the right or left so that when they reform the bowmen can reform into the 2 far columns, so that they will not impede the M@A movement, The 10 man single row is exactly 8" long so this is perfectly possible
