My fellow Knights....Thank you for continuing to stay for the story of my Masters accounts. Now that you all have filled your tankard with a new beverage, I continue my lords battles.

Again, I will remind you of the retuine that has followed my Master to Battle this day:

  • Sir Christoph Tetreaux (Lord): VoC, Sword of Quest, Gauntlet
  • BSB: Gromril Great Helm, Sword of Might
  • Damsel #1: 2 dispell scrolls, Level 1
  • Damsel #2: Silver Mirror, Level 1
  • 1 Unit 6 Errant: Full Command
  • 1 Unit 6 Errant: Full Command
  • 1 Unit 5 Realm Knights: Full Command (BSB Went here)
  • 1 Unit 5 Realm Knights: Full Command (Damsel #1 Went here)
  • 1 Unit of 5 Questing Knights(Lord went here)
  • 1 Unit of Grail Knights: Full Command(Damsel #2 Went Here)
  • 3 Peg Knights: Champion, Musician
  • 20 Grail relique
  • 5 Mounted Yeoman: Musician

After settling in for a good nights rest, fresh from routing an army of evil rat-Men, my lord was up early the next morning, anxious to continue the search for the grail.

When the army broke camp, they continued through a small town in Bretonnia, which name was not known, as it was deserted. The army halted outside this town, while the mounted squires observed what why the town was deserted.

Below the hill that my Masters army was formed upon, they could smell an evil that was unsettling. After the scouts came back, my master was informed by them that the town was over-run by a army of undead.

Spurning his horse, he moved to the town's edge, ready for battle.

Strigoi Undead:

  • Strogi Vampire Lord: Infinate harted, Iron Sniues,+1 wound
  • Wright(W/ Killing Blow sword of +5)
  • Necromancer(Book of -1 to hit)
  • 2 packs of 5 wolves
  • 20 Grave Guard
  • 18 Skeletons HW/Shield
  • 5 Black Knights
  • 6 Bases of Spirit Hosts

Deployment:  I have included a picture

vs._strogi_vampire_2nd_game

From My right: 6 Errants behind Mounted Yeomen, Errants infront of Questers w/ Lord, Grail Relique, Peg Knights, Realm W/Bsb, Realm, Grails.

His army from My right: 2 units of Wolves, 18 Skeletons W/ Lord & Necro, Grave Guard w/Wright, 5 Black Knights and the Spirit Hosts

1st Turn:

I pray, and he lets me go first. I move my squires up 2 inches, so his wolves cannot charge, and basically move my other units up so I can get a charge off next turn. The middle has a house as you can see from the picture, which he deployed right behins. So, I knew that thsi would be either good or bad for me, knowing I needed a flank charge to kill undead as well as a frontal with my small units.  Magic didn't do anything, as I rolled Mistress for both ladies, and shooting killed 1 wolf, now 1 unit was down to 4.

His turn: He moves up into my charge arcs with his Spirit hosts, Black knights and his 4 wolves march so are 1 inch away from the squires.  The other unit of wolves move up 9 to try and get to the flank of one of my knights units next turn. His magic is pretty strong, 8 power dice, and he casts spells to summon some skeletons, which I dispess with a scroll, and then he tries from the Necor to move the 4 wolves into combat by the movement spell. I pull out the silver mirror, which stops the spell and he takes a wound. But, his Lord pulls out an irisistable force of the movement spell, and charges the wolves into the squires. I stand, because I figure he would over-run into my errants, anyway, so just try and see if I could atleast kill one. They did better than that, I took 1 wound, and killed 3 back, I won combat and popped that unit.My squires overan into his backfiels, and was ready for my turn.

2nd Turn:

This is where I forgot to bring my camera out and take more pics.

Charges: on my right, I delare a charge with the Peg Kinghts into his other units of wolves, and on my left, I charge the realm knights into the Black kinghts, and the Grails go into the spirit hosts. (When I made that declaration, I don't think he knew much about a bretonnian army, because he smiled when I made that charge and said "OK", like thought that I would be hung up there for the whole game.

Well, I pass all my fear tests, and head into the units. Other movement- I position my other knights on the right to counter what he was going to do with his blocks of Grave guard and skeletons. He actually split them, where the Grave Guard moved to the right of the house(From His perspective), and the skeletons moved to tyhe left. I moved my Questers and both units of Errants up, trying to swing them aroung his flank that is opposet the house, hoping I can hit it all at the same time. I also move my Relique up just incase I needed that nice +5 for Combat res.

Magic is abismal, and shooting is just the same, for giggles, I shot at the grave guard unit, and killed 1. Yha!!

Combat- The Peg knights destroy the wolves, and I over-run into his backfield again(Now I have 2 units back there to play with) The realm knights that charged the black knights killed 3, they killed none in return, and the unit pops. I over-run in to his backfield, and now I have 3 units that can rear charge. The Grails come in, and what was funny, when I told him that the knights that were going to hit his spirit hosts were Grail Knights, and were immune to Psycology, I also let him know that the attacks were magical, and could wound him. "Crap...I forgot about that!" was his response. I charge in with 10 attacks, needed 3's to hit, and 2's to wound. I do 8 hits, and do 7 wounds. he looses 1 base, and 3 wounds on the next base, he does no back, and I wil combat by a further 2 for banner and rank. He has to take off 2 more bases, and now he is down to 2 bases. I expand my frontage, knowing that next round, I should break him.

His Turn: Well, he still has his 2 big units left and 2 bases of spirit hosts. He moves up the Grave Guard, and skeletons, both going their seperate ways, and tries to magically charge my Grail Reiique on my right. I scroll that, and the rest of his magic pretty much does nothing. His casting rolls were terrible. Now to combat. I kill the rest of his spirit hosts off, due to wounds and banner/outnumber, and now I've got my grails that are full strength. He knows that this next turn will be the game winner, depending on my charge rolls.

3rd Turn:

Charges: The questers go in the front, and errants go into a flank of the Skeletons, and the grail relique charge in to make sure I get a good Combat Res. score. The BSB unit charges the Grave Guard in the front, and the other reaml knights that are by the grails turn for a flank charge next turn just incase. The Peg Knights move up to charge the rear of the Grave guard, for insuarance pourposes next round also, and the squires take a table corner. The Grails position themselves to hit the front of the Grave Guard also.....again, just insurance.

The Lord ovcourse has to challenge, and his Strogi accepts. Since his Necro has the book, I need to hit him on 5's, and I do 2 hits, and 2 wounds because of my Virtue. he get's to re-roll his 3's due to infinant hatred, and hits me all 6 times, and wounds me 5...OUCH! I need 5's and 5's for my AS, and WS...I roll the first set for my AS, and I save 2, then I roll the second set for my ward save and I save 1. I took 2 wounds. This will hurt next round! The questers killed 4, and the errants killed 4, and the Grail relique did none. I win combat, he takes a bunch of skeletons off, and is left with Champion, Standard, Musician, 1 rank and File Skeleton, and the Lord. I directed the Questing knight champion on the necro with onre wound, and killed him. The other combat with my Realm knights didn't fare so well. He challenged me with his wright, and I accepted with my BSB. He killing Blowed me in the first turn...I needed a 6 to be ok for my ward, but of-couse I failed it...CRAP!, there goes my BSB. Anyway, I lost combat, and ran. Only taking the casulty of my BSB.

His turn: he charges my Realm knights hat fled last turn, so I had to flee. Then onto the other combat. he strikes first because I have the sword of the quest, which I had to use as a great weapon to hurt him. He kills me, and again doing 6 hits, and 5 wounds. I didn't roll a single 5.....But, due to combat res and casulties, the unit is finished off and there goes his Big block of skeletons and Lord.

4Th Turn:

I flank charge his remaining unit which was the Grave Guard with my realm knights that beat the Black knights, rear charge him with tne Peg knights, andFrontal charge with the Grails.

Before rolling the dice, He says, "I know the game is over, and you thumped me, I'd like to finish out the game."  Sure, I say, knowing that the game is won, but we were both having a good time, so why not??

The grails do a massive amounts of damage, 8 hits, and 7 wounds again, the realm wound 4 times, and the Peg Knights didn't wound, but The pegasus did.The unit Pops.....

We shake hands, and I look over at my dead pile. 1 Mounted Squire, and my Lord and my BSB.

I get 15 for the win...+1 for killing his general, and +1 for killing all his units. I get a further +1 because I have no units below 1/2 strength. Total of 18.

Points for me are 36...18 from the first game, and 18 for this game. The Bretts are 2-0, and going strong!

I have a little quirk where after the game, If my general dies durring game play, I roll a dice. On a 1, he is dead, and I have to continue with a story line that I'm doing about how my general is killed nobely in combat, and his sacrifice will not be in vain...etc. But thankfully, I roll a 4, and he is just wounded....On with the story!

Game 3 to come!
