According to this discussion at the Warseer-Forums and the attached newspaper scan (read the last sentence there!), the long-rumoured new 7th Edition of the Warhammer Fantasy ruleset is about to come out this year in autumn! According to various other sources, it will only be a redesign of the basic rules. All army books will remain valid, at least until a new one will come out with more balanced rules (like for Dwarfs recently).

A.
I am not suprize in the lack of sales as the figures are allready expensive ( yet the LOTR was cheaper)
(also our paint has gone from $4 AUD to $5)

B.
I heard roumors of the 7th ed release for ages and it seems like they were true.
excellent.

This has been around for the last few months. The box set will be released with dwarves and goblins(including new forest goblins) in October. The Orcs and Goblins is the second book to be released after dwarves.

One thing that really sux is the empire hevey cavalry movement of 7...
the reason we get movement 8 is because our steeds are so strong.
but empire also gets plate armor so ther get a save of 1 where we are on a 2
so technically shouldnt they (being heavier) only move at 6?

not that it really matters but I guess to make it fair for them but still... there needs to be like 6.5 inch movement or something lol

I think with 7" it's already a quite slow cavalry. 6" cavalry would be useless.
I really have no fear of the 1+AS of the imperials. It's the only good note they have.
In the game there are far, far more unbelanced issues.

PS: let avoid peasant senteces like "it sucks" , they are not really chivalrous

Ahh yes I realise the useleness of 6" movement as cavalry and yes there are other unbalanced issues that are more pressing, such as enforceing WYSIWUG rule ( pegusus knights should be a +2 if u uses that rule unfortunately for others then they would be too awesome.)

But I digress a mere slip of the toung... too much time around the common folk I assume. One must allways spare the commoners a word or two If one wants hem to fight loyaly by one's side!

Emprie Knights are OK the way they are, with no blessing and the reduced movement they are far inferior than our knights.

But there are rumours that Cavalry generally will get different rules because it is regarded as too strong, such as a strength bonus for lances only after a minimum movement (like Ogers). This would affect our whole army!

But we'll see what rumours are true and what not.

finnally someone gives a proff that the rumours werent rumours at all!

but are you saying that the new starter set will have dwarfs and goblins instead of empire and orcs?
because i think that the rulebook of 6th edition is really favoring empire...

The Starter Armies always vary from Edition to Edition, why should they always package the same armies?

When I started in 5th Edition it was Bretonnia and Lizardmen.

Toning down our cavalry would kill us off...
Infact that would just be plain dodgey.
If somone wants to combat cavalry use artillery/bolt throwers, flank attaks, stronger critter, magic.
That's what my HE freind uses heavy magic and bolt throwers and we end up with a fair matched game. If they killed our charges then we would be atillery fodder.

The rumours and play-testing of WHFBv7 have been going on for over 6 months. The concept is to maintain compatability of the current rule books, whilst improving game play.
The main arguments about the current rule set are the "nerfing" of the quality infantry (think High Elf) compared to quality cavalry (Think Bretonnian!) I'd happily charge a 5-strong unit of even KoR into 20 "Spear Elfs", and I'm fairly sure of winning, is this right comparing points values?
The changes mooted include giving +1 CR if you have one or more unengaged models on a flank, ie a 6-wide unit of HE will get +2 to their CR if fighting against a 3-wide KoR unit. (3 25mm bases will face off against 4 20mm bases, leaving two completely unengaged Elfs.)
Fighting units must maximise the number of models fighting on each side, not just having the charger maximise as is the case now.
Over rumoured changes are with Panic, it's suggested that any fleeing unit could cause panic in units they flee past, and fleeing units may be able to flee through your own models, potentially disrupting their formation and causing more panic tests. This will make "baiting" with Fast Cavalry much more risky, especially for my Goblins!
Skirmishers may not move at Double Pace within 8" of the enemy, so stopping those blasted Skinks scurrying between units so easily!
The auto-destruct S7 hit rule seems to be going too.
Wizards can only use the power dice they generate and the army's pooled two, so using 3 L2 Goblins to "feed" Power Dice to the L4 Shaman will stop.
All this has been garnered from various forums and other sources. As to whether all or indeed any will appear in v7 will only be revealed when that mighty tome hits the shelves!
There are too many comments to list them all here. See the forum for the full discussion.
