The
Dark Elf Highborn, Arion Swiftstrike, devised a scheme to win the
court's approval. He would invade Bretonnia, capturing many slaves, and
sacrifice them in the infested and abandoned province of Moussillon. It
was a foul place, where evil reigned supreme, and he hoped that the
bretonnians would not be as hard pressed to protect it than they would
their other provinces. The province was bordered by the sea, so he could bring a
raiding force via the water, and by the Time Gisoreux or Bordeleaux
could respond he could set up a defensive position.

The air was dim, the night was dark with no moon, Lord Sir Ikim Mc
Esmy was about to discuss, with his generals, the next moves against
the Vampire Counts army's camp, a couple of miles just out of the
border, when a boy came running in the tent. He was sweaty, his hart
was pounding, and, with his eyes out of his head, said "t-they...are
approaching", and nearly fainted. Henry VonGreenwich, on of the most
talented general of McEsmy's army, grabbed the kid before he could fall
on the ground. "Who is approaching?", asked Lord Ikim "I saw them from
far away", continued the bay, rather stressed and tired, "they are
many... I saw the banner... the banner of SCARION", then collapsed. The
boy was brought to the infirmary, where he could get first aid and,
most important, some rest. "The whole plan will have to change, the boy
said SCARION's army is a big one; though we are few. What can we
do...". He was about to finish the phrase, when the sentinel of the
camp blew the horn, in sign of danger. Another squire came running in.
"Makhrud...Makhrud is here". A big black bat bursting in. |

It was days, now, that from Sir Ikim Mc Esmy's camp, one could see
smoke from far away. Even in night time, one could hear screams,
yelling, and crushing of metal, even from miles away.
Some squires were sent as scouts to see what was going on.
Sir Ikim was in his tent, when one scout came in, saying: "Makhrud and
Scarion are fighting, but Makhrud has been outnumbered by the Chaos
army, and is going to perish, I suppose".
"Well done Said Sir Ikim what is your name, my boy?"
"C-Chris, my lord", said the anxiously, since never a noble had asked
him his name.
"Well done repeated Sir Ikim get some rest, you are coming with us.
You will be the gamekeeper, in our next battle, that, I suppose, won't
be far away in time".
"All right, my lord, thank you... thank you", and the squire left.
After almost a week, from the battle field, all was quiet, and so
remained for a couple of days after.
"Scarion won, and he is coming for us!!!!" yelled a squire, just from
outside the camp borders.
"How many are they?" Asked Mark Du Yellow. "Not many, the battle with
Makhrud probably decimated half of his army", replied the squire. "All
right, then, lets prepare for battle Said Sir Ikim Mark, Henry,
Luc, come, we have to prepare for battle". And the Paladins and the
champions went into Sir Ikim's tent, to discuss the next strategy. "We
will reach Scarion's army in the valley right outside the camp, so they
will have hills and mountains to keep away from, and we will have an
open field, to move freely. "We also need a lot of strength, no light
cavalry, the Chaos army has been reduced, and we are too few, plus the
hills will spread them, and we will be able to hit them hard", Planed
Sir Ikim. |

This is a 2000 pts. pitched battle between the
Bretonnians and the Beastmen. This game is something of a grudge match
- my Bretonnian amry gets so little respect at the shop where I play!
Time to bear down and prove myself again. I'm still learning how to use
the new White Dwarf Bretonnian list, and though I made at least one
serious mistake, I do believe I'm starting to "get it". |
