The Baron's knights ride out! 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hello and well met fellow knights, I have finally properly assembled my knights and soldiery together and wish to display them. Now please bare in mind that i've had little time to paint and that most were painted before my joining of the glorious round table, so for any displeased with my humble works know that thanks to many of you noble knights's painting advice my future works should be more pleasing to the eye.

So please look upon my works and judge as you will.

Not the best painted army I've ever seen, but the bright colors remind me of staring at the newest castle LEGO sets as a kid. Good times. You might consider a wash to give your guys some shading and help bring things into a bit more of a cohesive whole.

Many thanks Sir Ghandor for your advice, indeed my painting skills are a work in progress, though the venerable Lord of the Green has posted to me a very useful video on improving my paints.

Just wash them with inks by either Army Painter or Citadel colors and the difference will be extraordinary!Inks and washes bring out all the details that have been "lost" by heavy coloring. I think that's the only thing your soldiers are missing. Personally, I have been using the Army Painter inks (Dark Tone for darker colors, Soft Tone for faces, purple/green/blue/red for everything else) and the results are just outstanding. My mediocre painting turns into grade A display in a matter of seconds.

Otherwise, I loved the different colours (I'm a fan of making each and every bret knight different). It needs a lot of hours (much more than any other army in my opinion) but the result will be fantastic.
Also kudos on Link the Knight \m/ I hope he saves damsel Zelda from the clutches of evil Orc (or possibly Ogre) Gannondorf
Knight on crusade!

Hmm, use an ink wash you say, an excellent piece of advice indeed. Truly the best thing about this noble site is the endless generosity of it's gallant knights, never am I wanting for a helping hand, many thanks friends .

And yes, I make sure all my knights have a unique heraldry regarding them, though I might use the royal colors of red, blue and yellow for a house hold knight unit. That's one thing I liked about 5th edition when I saw that every knight had a piece of heraldry that showed their deeds and triumphs.

Also thank you for complimenting my Link knight, I am working on a zelda damsel and ganondorf questing knight (exiled of course, only quest he would be on is for power) to go together, even made a unique ruling for them just visit the forum in the tavern regarding my link model.

Once again many thanks for your advice and kind words.

Salutations fellow knights! It's been ages since last my knights met the light of these hallowed halls but despite my on and off painting schedule my army is progressing onwards. Many thanks to the knights of this noble site and providing advice on painting my paragons of chivalry.

As you can see, I've improved somewhat on my painting skills. I repainted the foreign knight from the land of Hyrule and invited the fey princess of his lands into my ranks.

I made the Zelda model by combining high elf spellcaster parts with wood elf parts. I am working on a dismounted Link to lead a (future) regiment of Hylian guards (man@arms and empire conversions) into battle.

I also work upon putting the infamous Ganon into my army. I've yet to decide though, a Bretonnian/chaos mix for spirit Ganondorf or a Bretonnian/vampire mix(Ganondorf, king of the gerudos) mounted on a blue orc boar (Ganon, demon beast)? Which do you lads think would be more suitable?

I thought that constantly comparing Zelda to Link made her seem small so here she is with my valiant yeomen sergeants.

Though I need more work on my knights here some pictures of my glorious riders of honor and steel.

Here was a surprise. I had a box from a friend for several years and thought it contained only metal chaos and Kislev models. Upon digging deeper I found these exceptional Bretonnian bowmen of editions past, I was quite excited to say the least.

Another thing in the box's bottom wrre all these hounds, best take a cue from Sir Calard and work on a force of hunting hounds.

There's an elf thing in your Army Baron! He has a shield with a triforce on it and dons a green hood!

Its good to see you've improved. Your first models reminded me of my own orcs lOng ago. And the models you've currently worked on remind me of my Chaos warriors overseas in Taiwan.

I'm curious to know what sort of paints you use. Citadel GW stuff? One thing I noted in your models and my own Chaos warriors in Taiwan is that in some spots the paints look heavier or clumped. Have you thinned your paints? I improved hundreds of times over since thinning out my paints and applying different levels of watered down washes

Keep on experimenting. Only practice improved us .

I know I know, the elf looks out of place among my champions of chivalry but he came highly recommended for monster slaying. The fellow who recommended him said it was wise to take him as it is dangerous to go alone...

Well to be honest, they are a mix of citadel and cheap hobby paints. I only go to cards and comic store (place where I get my GW supplies) once a year, keeps me from spending too much.

I visit the hobby store with my family more often so I just get my paints there, not as good but they get the job done.

Thank you Sir Wiegraf for your words of encouragement. My painting's not the best but model by model I'm getting better.

If you can save up a bit more and purchase GW , citadel or even vajellos and get the cheap stuff out you'll find your models will look so much better. Quality of brush and paint matter so much in my experience. Goodluck !

Keep on working! Your army reminds me of every army journal, diary and blog I've started myself, across the Warhammer forum-world. While it's awesome and inspiring to see the best painters present their work it's also inspiring to see a fellow Knight Errant starting working with improving his skills alongside yourself.
a.k.a. Da Git, Git and Git-Git around the Warhammer forum world.
